Why See Welsh National Opera - Marriage of Figaro?
Madcap Period Drama
Figaro is finally tying the knot in this feverishly fun follow-up to The Barber of Seville, spilling its madcap mischief courtesy of the Welsh National Opera! In a production featuring lavish period outfits and stage design, it's an experience with all the hallmarks of a classic night at the opera! With some of opera's most famous arias and an unbeatable story, come and discover why The Marriage of Figaro is considered the world's best.
The Marriage of Figaro explores territory that would have surely raised a few eyebrows in its day, in the contentious relationship between the lower and ruling classes. Set in Spain, serial love rat Count Almaviva has set his sights on his Countess' maid Susanna, much to the chagrin of his valet Figaro, who is Susanna's betrothed. The Countess, Susanna, Figaro, and their fellow servants conspire to punish the rapscallion Count with hysterical results.
